Lawrence Academy is located in Groton, MA and is a coeducational boarding school for grades 9-12 with college preparation. The arts program at Lawrence provides the students the opportunity to express what they feel and think about the world while learning how to create meaningful works of art. At Lawrence Academy, courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and multimedia/video help students to discover the artist in themselves.
Two major productions are held in the fall and winter at Lawrence and student direct one act plays in the spring. Auditions for the productions are open to all students. Students may participate in the Stage Crew, which fulfills the requirement for a sport. They meet after school every day and on some Saturdays. Under the guidance of the technical director, students build sets, hang and run lights, work on costume, sound and props.
Music courses at Lawrence Academy are designed to introduce students to the creative process of composing original music. Dance is available as both an academic class and a part of the athletic department. Courses are available for beginners and serious experienced dancers. All dance students are given the opportunity to participate in dance concerts that occur at the end of each term.
The athletic department at Lawrence values many lessons they teach, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, sacrifice and leadership. Some of the sports available are: soccer, cross country, field hockey, football, volleyball and more.
