Fay School is an independent, coeducational school located in Southborough, MA. The boarding school serves students grades 6-9 and many of their students are from foreign countries. The arts at Fay play a major role in each student’s educational experience. Most children love art and music and this helps them to become more engaged as learners. They all have different artistic skills and so the art program is made to be age-appropriate. The music program at Fay gives students the choice to play in the bank or orchestra, participate in the hand bell choir, sing in an ensemble or take private lessons. The dramatic arts at Fay build confidence and skills in each student as they participate and learn to be an effective public speaker. The students can also perform in plays, the musical production they hold each year gives each student the opportunity to be involved, whether it is singing, dancing, acting or creating costumes and building sets.
The athletic program at Fay includes many sports to become involved in such as, soccer, football, field hockey, baseball, lacrosse, track, golf, skiing and tennis. In the gymnasium they will play basketball, volleyball, wrestling and indoor games. The athletic program brings everyone together, whether as a participant or spectator. It is important for the students learn teamwork and cooperation and promote sportsmanship and fair competition. The students learn through the physical education program, healthy lifestyles, self-discipline, responsibility and leadership.
The library at Fay provides the opportunity for students to develop a love of reading and an appreciation for quality literature. The library is a wonderful resource for the students to help with their learning. The technology program at Fay gives students the opportunity to use computers and related technologies. The goal is to help the students think critically about how they use their technology and make wise decisions whenever they use it.
