Hill School is located in Pottstown, PA and is a coeducational school for grades 9-12 with focus on college preparation. Their mission is to prepare their students for excellence in college, careers and life.

Founded in 1851 as The Family Boarding School for boys and young men, The Hill is committed to sustaining an ideal “family” environment. The Hill was the first school in the country to have students stay in their campus, “home away from home.” Rev. Matthew Meigs was the founder and he wanted to stress that he was not founding another academy, but a type of school new and rare. The Hill was the first to be founded as a family boarding school. In the early years of the school’s existence, the schoolroom also served as the chapel.

Hill offers structure that is visible in their neat dress code and their seated meals in the Dining Room and their evening study halls. They provide personal attention and support and nurture the mind, body and spirit. Hill teachers work in partnership with the student’s parents as well as being accessible for extra help, conversion and counsel with the students. The teachers take the responsibility to make sure the students do their best work, develop leadership skills and make healthy choices.

The Hill School offers an educational experience that not only emphasizes intellectual discovery, but in helping the students to develop a moral framework by which to live their lives. The students leave with the experience of learning individual responsibility, self-knowledge and a duty to others.

The many arts programs at Hill are music, with music history, vocal music, instrumental ensembles, visual arts with photography, woodworking, studio art, theatre, with three productions each year.

The Hill offers 29 varsity sports programs and fitness-centered intramural programs. Whether you are competing on an athletic team or cheering on the side lines, Hill athletics is an important part of the school community. The athletic department emphasizes the importance of physical training and conditioning, skill development, team play, competition, enjoyment, development of character and community building. Some sports available to participate in are: cross country, football, soccer, water polo, golf, basketball, ice hockey, squash, baseball, lacrosse, tennis, track and field, swimming and diving, softball and wrestling.
