Happy Hill Farm Academy
Happy Hill Farm is located in Granbury, TX and is coeducational school for grades 9-12. They also offer a day school for grades K-12. Founded in 1975 by Ed and Gloria Shipman, the school opened with 20 students. The Shipman’s purchased land from a dear lady, Aunt Bill Flippin. She was delighted for the Shipman’s to use the land to help children. Aunt Bill spent many of the early years being a grandmother to the first boys and girls at Happy Hill.
The curriculum at Happy Hill Farm focuses on building critical problem solving, thinking, communication, study, organization and social skills. They have a rigorous college-preparatory program that has a Christian worldview framework. Students are prepared for life and college and taught to be productive citizens. The student body at Happy Hill Farm is very diverse and they all share a common goal of excelling in their education while showing respect, responsibility, integrity, self-discipline and compassion. The school promotes regular physical and healthy lifestyles. Happy Hill Farm offers Advanced Placement classes and opportunities for each student to find their passion. They can participate in choir, Youth and Government, the 4-H program and a variety of sports. The teachers and staff teach Biblical principles and nurture the personal growth of each student.
Happy Hill Farm Academy is located on a beautiful 400 acre campus and provides each student with the sense of safety and security. At Happy Hill Farm there are many opportunities for students to be successful. They are encouraged to set goals and put forth the effort, desire and fortitude to reach them. Happy Hill Farm Academy is a working farm where they raise their own beef, lamb and pork. They have a professional equine program where the students learn horsemanship skills and proper handling, tacking, and basic riding techniques. They also have a petting zoo. The Academy is very involved in the FFA, 4-H and horticulture programs. This program gives students the opportunity to grow vegetables, fruits and landscape design. The livestock is cared for daily by some students and learn responsibility raising sheep, goats, pigs and beef. The Academy offers many competitive sports such as track, football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, soccer, cheerleading, cross country and softball.
Students may also participate in the performing and visual arts program and outdoor education where they are introduced to lifelong sports of hunting and fishing.
