Kents Hill School

Kents Hill School is located in Kents Hill, Maine and is a coeducational boarding school for grades 9-12. Kents Hill mission is to educate students mind, body, and spirit in order for them to prepare for the challenges and opportunities in higher education. They teach the students to respect themselves and others and to care for those who are less fortunate. Kents Hill reminds their students that one man or woman of principle can always make a difference. They create a stimulating academic community, providing students with skills to become life-long learners. One of their goals is to build self-esteem in each student. They promote regular sportsmanship and physical activity and to provide opportunities for students to be creative and appreciate the arts. The athletic program at Kents Hill offers the following: football, field hockey, soccer, mountain biking, golf, cross country, equestrian, ice hockey, basketball, skiing, snowboarding, fencing, and dance. The Performing Arts Department is dedicated to providing all students the opportunity to explore, and learn through formal and informal instruction in theater, dance and music. There are classes available in acting, playwriting, theater history, stagecraft, and drama. If a student is interested in joining a band, Kents Hill supports five different bands. Jazz Ensemble has 25 members and they play a wide range of music from traditional jazz to swing, rock, blues, reggae, funk, and ballads. Rock band focuses on classic and modern rock performances. Acoustic Band is a performance group which works exclusively with acoustic instruments. They not only play guitars but mandolins, banjos and other traditional string instruments. The Visual Arts program at Kents Hill provides students the opportunity to be creative and explore a wide variety of artistic disciplines. Kents Hill visual arts program provides a wide range of beginning to advanced programs: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography, woodworking, environmental art, graphic design, new media and art history.

Akin Learning Skills Center has provided an excellent support program for students with mild to moderate learning differences. The Center provides individual support and instruction to their students so they can achieve academic success and independence. They help students learn their own learning style, skills and strategies needed to build their confidence and abilities to become independent learners.
