George Stevens Academy

George Stevens Academy is located in Blue Hill, ME and is a coeducational school for grades 9-12. The schools focus is to prepare students for college, at the same time developing self-reliance. The extensive curriculum includes AP and honors courses as well as environmental and marine. The Blue Hill Peninsula is known for its traditional, coastal fishing and boatbuilding history. The village of Blue Hill is at the mouth of Blue Hill Bay and has many shop, art galleries, pottery studios and restaurants. Throughout the year students are given the opportunity to attend many events in Blue Hill and enjoy a walk along a rocky beach, hike up Blue Hill Mountain or go canoeing or kayaking.

George Stevens Academy strives to inspire young people to stretch their minds and open their hearts so they can learn to live in the world full of courage, compassion, respect, confidence and love. To help with their academics George Stevens Academy provides an advisor program where faculty members assist students with their academic, social and emotional development. They also provide a personal learning plan for each student to help them achieve their educational goals. George Stevens Academy also offers English as a Second Language and summer school.

George Stevens Academy has as part of their athletic program competitive sports such as: soccer, cross country, golf, basketball, swimming, cheerleading, wrestling, baseball, softball, tennis, outdoor track and sailing.

There are many extracurricular clubs and activities available at George Stevens Academy. Book Club is open to all students and they discuss a wide variety of books. Chess Team meets regularly for casual play and training and holds intramural tournaments. Drama Club objectives are to familiarize students with a variety of dramatic literature and exploration of theatre movements. International Cooking Club is a group of students devoted to learning about and preparing cuisines from around the world. Steel Drum Club is Island music of the Caribbean, where students learn part of the history and culture of the Caribbean and learn to play the steel drum. Student Council is to provide significant leadership, school service, and to assist in the management of the school.
