Ekklesia Mountain High
Ekklesia Mountain High is a part of the Darren Patterson Christian Academy. It is a college preparatory school for grades 9-12 and is co-educational. Located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, in Buena Vista, CO, EMH students have the opportunity to experience the great outdoors with unforgettable adventures. The students will prepare for college and form lifelong friendships while learning about Christ’s vision for community, leadership and faithful living.
At Ekklesia Mountain High the students spend time in the outdoors and the wilderness setting connects them to God and to His World. They will be challenged to think carefully about God’s world and their vision for their life as God’s child. The students are asked to work hard in class and gain a whole new perspective about the world they live in and how they can help build Christ’s kingdom. Participating in the great outdoors will challenge a student to stay in good physical condition and learn lifelong outdoor skills such as rock-climbing to skiing. The God-given gifts we have can help build and discover team work and friendships. As a student experiences rigorous academics, combined with holistic, integrative and thinking skills, they learn to connect with the real world. EMH students are given the opportunity to spend time outdoors to challenge their ideas, to test them selves and invest in others, thus making it possible for their self confidence to grow.
EMH partners with Solid Rock Outdoor Ministries in Laramie, WY. They provide wilderness courses for churches, schools and groups. Some of the courses would include camping in the Wind River Mountain Range of Wyoming, a ten day rock climbing adventure in Colorado National Monument and visiting the amazing Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. Winter courses are offered in the Rock Mountain National Park, where students learn winter survival skills. The magnificent Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is a trip to discover the majesty and variety of God’s creations. Students are the leaders and they plan the trip with the support of adult staff.
