Idyllwild Arts Academy

Idyllwild Arts Academy is located in Idyllwild, CA and is a pre-professional training arts boarding school for grades 9-12. The academy is coeducational and offers a disciplined college preparatory program and post graduate training in creative writing, film and video, dance, interdisciplinary arts, music, theatre and visual arts. To be admitted to Idyllwild the student needs an audition or portfolio presentation. The campus is located in the beautiful San Jacinto Mountains in Southern California. This area in the mountains provides the students with a safe and inspiring setting.

The academics at Idyllwild are independent study, and non-sectarian. Idyllwild provides a curriculum that is both traditional and unique. Because of this, the students are able to pursue several different options after high school. The students at Idyllwild come from a wide range of backgrounds where they learn to cooperate and care for each other and assume responsibilities to build a better school community. The school has a strong financial aid program, making it so that talent and dedication are the common denominators.

The Humanities department at Idyllwild offers a selection of courses in English and history that add to the student’s chosen artistic field. It challenges the students to meet the academic standards that they will face in college and universities. The classroom setting is ideal for a student to learn to be confident, creative and to deal with difficult issues of their day. The Humanities department at Idyllwild offers honor courses. The applicant must have an academic GPA of 3.8 or higher and provide a written in-class essay pertaining to the study of either literature or history. The honor classes at Idyllwild have a maximum of 18 students.

The residential living at Idyllwild gives students the opportunity to learn practical skills of healthy living. Students learn to cooperate and be trustworthy. Student services is committed the health and safety of the community while teaching life skills such as time management, interpersonal relationship and individual accountability.
